I love connecting with youth through sport and invigorating them with their own potential. I currently work with Motivate Canada as part of their Esteem Team and we go into class rooms and share positive messages and goal setting skills through my sport experiences.
The informal and interactive presentations highlight the values I have learned through sport and is shared in an informative, fun way!
It's important for these young girls and boys to see that the athletes they see at the Olympics are just like anyone else; working hard every day to achieve great things. For them to understand that it's cool for a girl to be a wrestler speaks to the opportunity to go out and follow their dreams.
Coaching & Volunteering
An integral part of the success of the amateur sport community is the ability of those to give back. I appreciate this aspect of the sport and have been highly involved in volunteering at the grassroots level. I am currently the secretary of the Calgary Amateur Wrestling Association which organizes and funds youth wrestling camps and tournaments.
I love sharing my passion for the sport of wrestling with the local community. Annually, I return to my hometown and take part in clinics in the Ottawa region. I have also been a guest coach at various wrestling camps in Canada, recently at the JAR wrestling camp in Nova Scotia and Rocky Mountain Wrestling camp in Jasper, AB.
In February 2014, I was the women's coach of the Calgary Area Zone 3 team youth team who won gold at the Alberta Winter Games in February 2013!
